Comet Radio CR-220  CR220

Comet Radio

Quite frankly, the Comet is one of the most innovative products Crosley has ever developed. Don't let its diminutive size fool you. Once you hear it, you'll think that you are listening to one of those $500 radios - and if that's the case, save $370 and "Catch the Comet!" This little receiver was designed entirely around the speaker enclosure and sound chamber. Even its shape is no accident. Inspired by one of Powell Crosley's original designs from the 1940's, the unique curve of the Comet functions as a "funnel" to improve bass response. If radio isn't your thing, take advantage of our portable audio-ready feature. Take your favorite MP3 player, CD player, Walkman™ or satellite radio and "hook it up" with the included connection kit. Featuring a 3" full-range studio quality driver and discrete amplification system, you will be amazed again and again by the clarity of your favorite tunes or talk.

    Solo Radio

Say hello to the Solo, Crosley's first offering in its new Audiophile line of high-end audio products. The Solo is a little different than anything that you have ever seen, or heard before. Start with the clean, "new-stalgic" look. Taking design cues from modern art, the corners are gently rounded to create the Solo effect. This "today" look is nicely complemented by the airplane tuning dial. The true magic of this little wonder lies in its ability to produce the cleanest, most consistent sound of any radio on the market. Crosley accomplishes this with AroundSound, a proprietary design philosophy that eliminates "hot spots" in sound reproduction. Regardless of its placement in a room, the Solo delivers a measurable difference in acoustic consistency - more than three times as its nearest competitor. To the consumer, this means a more pleasurable listening experience, creating an enveloping effect that wraps the listener in a comfortable cocoon of pleasant, warm tone. Enjoy the precise AM/FM tuner, or check out your "portable" tunes with our portable Audio Ready feature. Just connect any portable audio device with included hardware and prepare yourself for a unique listening experience.

"Happy Days are Here Again" went the most popular tune of 1930, but for most Depression-era Americans, the sentiment amounted to wishful thinking. In 1932, Herbert Hoover was defeated by Franklin Delano Roosevelt by a landslide. It quickly became apparent after this runaway victory that FDR embodied and indomitable optimism and a speaking voice which seemed tailor-made for the medium of radio. He began delivering regular radio addresses to the nation known as "fireside chats." And FDR wasn't the only thing Americans were listening to. Now with unemployment at an all-time high, more Americans than ever were relying upon radio for their evening entertainment. Hard to believe maybe, but radio performances truly struck a deep chord with the American public. And all such tunes and talk were most magnificently enjoyed on radio sets just like Crosley's Companion. Careful attention to detail makes this mini, yet magnificent, Cathedral-style radio as authentic as the 1930's original.
